Psa 51:1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: According to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Psa 51:2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.References; Psa 51, Isa 54:7, Rom 9:15, Ex 33:19
Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me.
Psa 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me.
Psa 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with a willing spirit.Note; Only after verses 10-12 have taken place, can you teach others the word of God and bring sinners unto Him, as in verse 13 below…
Psa 51:13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; And sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Note; We ought to give God praise because, He is not interested in sacrifice or burnt offering, but ONLY in a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart…
Psa 51:15 O Lord, open thou my lips; And my mouth shall show forth thy praise.
Psa 51:16 For thou delightest not in sacrifice; Else would I give it: Thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering.
Psa 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.Dictionary.com defines broken, as; “weakened in strength or spirit, tamed, trained, or reduced to submission”
and contrite as; “penitent, repentant, apologetic, conscience-stricken, humble, remorseful”
Try replacing “broken and contrite” with these words, to gain a deeper understanding of Ps 51:17.
Note; It doesn’t matter how hard you try; it doesn’t depend on how much you’ve done; God simply chooses to have mercy on you…
Rom 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. (see also Ex 33:19)
Rom 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
Note; Even when it seems like God has abandoned or forsaken you, it is only for a brief moment, for He will again bring you back to Himself, with great mercy and deep compassion, for He says in Isa 54:7; “For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee”.
God does not stay angry for long either…He has long forgiven you, so stop beating yourself down over that sin committed long ago…Mic 7:18 says;
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
Finally, ask yourself this one question; Am I merciful? For Mat 5:7 says; “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy”…
Have a blessed week.

A Cry to God for Mercy…
June 8, 2009 by JustDoyin
This happens to be my favorite Psalm…
Whenever I know I have done something that needs God’s mercy…I just read this and remind God that He should not take His Holy Spirit from me nor cast me from His presence…
I am definitely looking forward to sharing with you and Blogizens the new things that God is doing/will be doing in my life in your testimony corner. And thanks so much for the recommendation…
God Bless You…
Mercy, For about two months now the Lord has been talking to me about mercy and I believe he is taking me somewer. In these few months I have learnt God’s mercy is available to who ever is quick to acknowledge his sins and ask for mercy. No wonder David upon his numerous sins God called him the apple of his eyes. David was always quick to acknowledge his sins and ask for mercy he never tried to defend himself.
Again I have learnt to look at mercy inthe area of forgiveness. Forgiveness they say is a xteristics of the strong the weak never forgives. But remember unforgiveness leads to revenge.
Thank God for his mercies that preserves us from the negatives we deserve. There is so much about Gods mercy that we need to constantly and conciously desire and walk in his mercy.
Proverbs 3:3-4 (New King James Version)
Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart,
And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.
Micah 6:8 (New King James Version)
8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly,To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?
AND Finally
Luke 6:36 (New King James Version)
36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
Ah.. that was the key to David still being called a man after God’s own heart inspite of his many public failings…. thanks for sharing!
Nice devotional for the day. The contributions are amazing too. Thanks.
Mercy, mercy, mercy…
Thank God for His mercies, else where will we all be?
Thanks for reminding us that God forgives and forgets…we need to learn to forgive ourselves and forget the past issues and sins as well. we have to be broken and not be overly hard on ourselves.
Thanks once again
Thanks so much for sharing this… Have mercy on me O Lord!! Help me to forgive others as you forgive me!!
I always have a contrite heart and then I fall into sin and feel too ashamed to come back and start asking God for forgiveness all over and over again. *sigh*
I need his mercy in my life.
Mercy from God is what we are in need off especially when we have fallen short of his Glory countless times. Thanks for sharing..

I love this verse, “Isa 54:7; “For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee”.”
We have to learn that God is “merciful.”
[…] Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit…need I say more? NO CONDEMNATION! Just ask Him for Mercy… […]
